Every landscaping project — however small — begins with some level of clearance and groundworks. It is the phase that is least visible in the finished result but most critical to its longevity. Cutting corners here creates problems that are expensive and difficult to fix after the project is complete.
Site Clearance
Site clearance involves removing all vegetation, existing surfaces and debris from the project area. For garden projects this might range from clearing a small border to stripping a whole garden of existing lawn, planting and hard standing.
- Vegetation removal — by hand, strimmer or machinery depending on scale
- Existing hard surface removal — concrete, paving, decking
- Waste categorisation — green waste, inert waste, general waste
- All waste removed from site and disposed of responsibly
Groundworks
Groundworks follow clearance and cover excavation, levelling, drainage and sub-base installation. The quality of groundworks determines whether the finished paving, turf or planting performs as it should for years to come.
Equipment We Use
For most domestic garden projects in Hampshire, a mini-digger (1–1.5 tonne) is the most efficient way to excavate and move material. We also use plate compactors for sub-base work, breakers for concrete removal and stump grinders for tree stump clearance.
A&T Landscapes carries out site clearance and groundworks for projects of all sizes across Hampshire, Dorset and Wiltshire. Call 07735 916029.
